A Journey Through Paradise: Exploring Manali, Kasol, and Sissu Valley

As the hustle and bustle of city life began to take its toll, I found myself yearning for a break, a getaway that would take me far away from the cacophony of daily life. It was then that my college department decided to organise an unforgettable journey to the enchanting destinations of Manali, Kasol, and Sissu Valley. This blog is a recount of my memorable adventure through these picturesque locales nestled in the lap of the Himalayas.

Manali : My story

Manali: The Gateway to Adventure

Our journey began from Delhi through a bus which had around 50 people including me. I still remember that we we're so excited to reach our destination that we couldn't sleep the whole night. All the imagination of a friend's trip turned into reality as we reached Manali in the morning. Located in Himachal Pradesh, this hill station is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, lush greenery, and a plethora of adventure activities.

The view felt surreal as we were surrounded by hills covered with snow and a beautiful river falling from the mountains.

The first day began with a long trek to the Jogini waterfall. Its water felt blood freezing as we stepped in to enjoy the scenic view from there.

The evening ended with us strolling in the Mall road. Along with shopping the famous kullu shawls, we tried Siddu, the steamed bun that is Himachal's favourite delicacy.

Kasol: A Hippie's Haven

From Manali the next day, we ventured further into the Parvati Valley and arrived in Kasol, a small village that has earned the moniker "Mini Israel." Kasol's serene ambiance, nestled along the banks of the Parvati River, provided a stark contrast to the bustling streets of Manali. Amid the rain in Kasol, we explored nearby attractions such as the Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara and embarked on a trek to the enchanting village of Malana, known for its distinct culture. The night of that day was spent campaigning along the Parvati river under the sky full of stars.

Overlook of Sissu valley

Sissu Valley: A Glimpse of Heaven

Our journey took an awe-inspiring turn as we made our way to the lesser-known gem, Sissu Valley on the third day of our trip. Situated in Lahaul-Spiti district, Sissu Valley was like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Our road journey included covering the Atal tunnel to reach the valley. It all felt like a winterland as the surrounding mountains were covered with snow. Experiencing the snowfall fir the first time jn my life left me breathless. The pristine beauty of this valley, with its emerald-green meadows, towering mountains, and pristine rivers, left an indelible mark on our hearts. We found solace in the tranquillity of Sissu, away from the tourist

crowds.

One of the highlights of my trip was the rafting that we did in the Beas river. The waves of the river hitting our raft was scary but the scenic beauty around helped me to cope with it.The water was too cold to be touched but I had a small dive in it. It was an adrenaline pumping experience.

Local Cuisine and Culture:

Our journey wouldn't have been complete without savouring the local cuisine of Himachal Pradesh. From mouthwatering momos in Manali to Israeli delicacies in Kasol and traditional Himachali dishes in Sissu Valley, our taste buds embarked on a delightful journey of their own.

The journey through Manali, Kasol, and Sissu Valley was nothing short of a life-changing experience. It allowed me to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with nature and ourselves. Each of these destinations had its unique charm, making this trip a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and tranquillity. For me, it was a trip to be remembered for a lifetime. If you're seeking an unforgettable escape, consider exploring these hidden gems in the heart of the Himalayas.
